Sentenced to serve 30 to 60 years in prison

A Charleroi man who raped a 12-year-old girl pleaded guilty Thursday and will serve what is likely to be a “life sentence” in prison.

Miguel Angel Pedrosa, 63, appeared in Washington County Court of Common Pleas and pleaded guilty to child rape and several other felonies in connected with the sexual abuse of the pre-teen girl at a Fallowfield Township home.

Pedrosa was immediately sentenced by Judge Traci McDonald to 30 to 60 years in prison in accordance with the plea agreement negotiated with the state Attorney General’s office, which prosecuted the case.

State prosecutors said the abuse occurred over several months before the child’s mother installed a hidden video camera inside her home and recorded one of the sexual assaults in January 2025. State police from the Belle Vernon barracks were contacted the following day and investigated the case, leading troopers to arresting and charging Pedrosa with numerous felonies.

“This heinous conduct has no place in society, and the plea resolution is effectively a life sentence for the defendant who is already in his sixties,” Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday said. “I commend the Pennsylvania State Police for a sound investigation that led to very serious charges, this conviction, and, we hope, a measure of justice for the victim and their family.”

Pedrosa had been scheduled to appear Thursday for a pre-trial conference before McDonald, but apparently opted to take a plea deal from state prosecutors. In addition to the child rape charge, Pedrosa also pleaded guilty to felony counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, corruption of minors, aggravated indecent assault of a child, indecent assault and child endangerment.

Pedrosa’s public defender, William Caye II, could not be reached for comment Friday to discuss the plea deal. Senior Deputy Attorney General Alicia Werner prosecuted the case.

Pedrosa has been held at the Washington County jail on $250,000 cash bond since his arrest on Jan. 26, 2025. He will soon be transferred to a state prison for processing before the permanent facility of his incarceration will be determined.
