1 min read

North Strabane police arrested a driver involved in a head-on collision Thursday afternoon.

David Michael Orosz, 29, of Barnesville, Ohio, faces a felony charge of aggravated assault by vehicle, and misdemeanors of reckless endangerment, driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the criminal complaint, the accident occurred at about 1:15 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of McClelland Road and Village Drive.

Charging documents state that Orosz’s vehicle crossed into the other lane and struck a vehicle head-on. Court records do not specify which way either vehicle was traveling.

Maryann Conti, the driver of the other vehicle, suffered a broken arm and was transported to a Pittsburgh hospital. The complaint does not provide an age or address for Conti.

According to the complaint, Orosz appeared lethargic, had pinpoint pupils and was slow to respond to questions. Investigators believed he was under the influence of narcotics.

Police said that stamp bags containing a white powder substance were found in Orosz’s possession.

When investigators searched the vehicle, they found empty stamp bags and drug paraphernalia. Orosz was transported to AHN Canonsburg Hospital for a blood draw.

Orosz has not been arraigned on the charges.
