Community College of Beaver County announces new academic programs
Community College of Beaver County (CCBC), which has a campus in Washington County, will be offering five new academic programs starting in the fall.
The community college says the programs are “designed to meet regional workforce needs.”
The new programs include:
– Safety management
– Healthcare administration, patient care
– Healthcare administration, leadership
– Sales professional
– Healthcare support specialist
Benjamin Stoviak, dean of CCBC’s School of Professions and Transfer Studies, said the school curriculum is “hands-on, practical and designed with the realities of the workforce in mind. As industries change and new opportunities emerge, community colleges have an important role to play in helping people gain relevant, competitive skills.”
Students can receive associate’s degrees in the safety management and healthcare administration programs, while the sales professional program offers a certificate and students who complete the healthcare support specialist program will get a microcredential, which is given after the completion of a brief series of courses.
The Community College of Beaver County has had a presence in Washington County since 2023. It arrived a year after a branch of the Community College of Allegheny County closed at Washington Crown Center mall. CCBC’s Washington County branch moved to the Western Area Career and Technology Center in Chartiers Township after being at the Intermediate Unit 1 in McMurray for three years.
