South Strabane Township’s fire chief tendered his resignation earlier this week in order to begin an equivalent role in Ross Township after just over four years on the job.

Jordan Cramer was hired by South Strabane in 2022 after a 14-year career as a firefighter and emergency medical technician at neighboring Peters Township.

South Strabane Township Manager Peter Stefansky confirmed that he received Cramer’s resignation later earlier this week, saying that the township appreciates his leadership during his tenure, and wishes him the best in all future endeavors.

Cramer’s last day with the township will be Sept. 11, according to Stefansky.

Stefansky said the township’s priority is to continue delivering high-quality fire service to residents until a new fire chief is hired, saying that established continuity of leadership protocols within the department will ensure an uninterrupted chain of command.

Cramer twice served as interim township manager for South Strabane, first from September to August 2023 and again in late August 2025 until January 2026 when Stefansky assumed the position.

Neither Cramer nor Ross Township returned requests for comment.
