Greene man in custody after nearly two years
A Greene County man who had been on the run for nearly two years was apprehended by police Thursday afternoon.
David Garber, 42, of Dilliner, was arrested after a brief struggle when officers found him hiding in a wooded area near Nemacolin, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post Friday morning. The office had received a tip that day about his location.
Cumberland Township Police Department, Pennsylvania State Game Commission, Greene County Adult Probation, Waynesburg Borough Police Department and state constables assisted in the arrest.
Garber had been wanted on a parole warrant out of West Virginia since October 2024. Police last sighted him in June, when he was among the targets of a county-wide warrant sweep. After he was spotted outside a convenience store in Dilliner, he led officers on a motorcycle chase during which he used pepper spray on three officers, according to court documents.
At the time, he had two active felony warrants, including one for fleeing and eluding charges filed in September 2025.
His charges include aggravated assault on law enforcement, fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest, criminal trespass, burglary and introducing contraband into a correctional facility.
Additional aid in the warrant investigation came from Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Greene County District Attorney’s Office, Greene County detectives, Greene County Emergency Management and Department of Emergency Services, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania State Parole, South Strabane Police and City of Pittsburgh Police.
