Job fair being held in Washington today
Local residents are encouraged to attend the “Washington Goes To Work” job fair hosted by city Mayor JoJo Burgess on today.
More than 10 regional employers including Lighthouse Electric and UPMC Washington will attend the event being held at the Alpine Club at 735 Jefferson Ave. in Washington from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. today.
“Everyone is welcome to come to try for an opportunity to better their lives,” Burgess said.
This is the fourth such job fair Burgess has hosted for city residents in recent years, with public attendance growing steadily at each installment.
“If you want to have a community, you need jobs so people can afford to live there,” he said.
According to Burgess, attendees should bring an updated resume and any documents required to apply for employment.
Some employers that will attend the event may require drug testing in order to comply with federal contracts they service, Burgess said, so attendees should prepare for all relevant pre-employment testing.
