Yoga in the park
The Yoga in the Park at Mingo Creek County Park will be June 10 at 6 p.m. The group will meet at the Mingo Creek County Park Group Camping Area, near the Observatory. This is an introductory yoga class, but all skill levels are welcome. Bring a yoga mat or beach towel. Pre-registration is required and can be made online at http://washingtoncountypa.tylerparksrec.com/8799prod/ParksRec/portal/Home or by calling the Washington County Parks and Recreation Office at 724-228-6867. A $5 fee will be charged. Mingo Creek County Park is located 12 miles East of Washington off Route 136.
Veterans Council meeting
The Monongahela Veterans Council will meet at VFW 1409 – Black Diamond, 793 E. Main St., Monongahela, June 12 at 7 p.m. to discuss upcoming events and activities scheduled for this year. All interested parties are welcome to attend.
Animal blessing
The First Presbyterian Church, located at 501 Fayette Ave. in Belle Vernon, will hold its 11th annual blessing of the animals June 13 at 10 a.m. All pets are welcome. Canonsburg flag raising
The Washington County Cultural Trust invites all to participate in the raising of the Betsy Ross flag ceremony June 14 at 1 p.m. at the Roberts Stone House, 225 N. Central Ave., Canonsburg. This is part of the Canonsburg Celebrates America 250.
Yard sale
Long Branch Community Grange, 210 Chestnut St., Coal Center, will host a community yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 19 and 20. Those who bring their own table and set up outside will be charged no fee. If the grange provides a table indoors, vendors will be asked to pay $10. Ostomy support group
Penn Highlands Mon Valley offers an ostomy support group on the third Thursday of every month. The next meeting will be held on June 18. The group meets from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center at 1163 Country Club Road, Monongahela. Penn Highlands Mon Valley’s Center for Wound Management is proud to offer the ostomy support group for those with ostomies as well as their family and friends. There is no cost to participate.
