Garden club meeting
The Martha Washington Garden Club will meet on June 16 at noon at Laboratory Presbyterian Church, 23 Manse St., Washington. The speaker will be member Vina McLeod Rudolph on the topic of flower show table artistry. Please note that at 10 a.m., there will be a pre-meeting workshop on flower show table artistry, functional table for one and al fresco dining led by Sue Liusi and Vina McLeod Rudolph. Yard sale
Long Branch Community Grange, 210 Chestnut St., Coal Center, will host a community yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 19 and 20. Those who bring their own table and set up outside will be charged no fee. If the grange provides a table indoors, vendors will be asked to pay $10. Ostomy support group
Penn Highlands Mon Valley offers an ostomy support group on the third Thursday of every month. The next meeting will be held on June 18. The group meets from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center at 1163 Country Club Road, Monongahela. Penn Highlands Mon Valley’s Center for Wound Management is proud to offer the ostomy support group for those with ostomies as well as their family and friends. There is no cost to participate. Mon Valley Paws meeting
The monthly meeting of Mon Valley Paws will be held June 22 at 6 p.m. at the ISMA Italian Club, 112 7th St. in Monessen. All are welcome to attend. For more information, call 724-314-6571.
Garden tour
The Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania presents the first-ever statewide garden party tour on June 20 and 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. View over 90 beautiful private landscapes and public gardens across 12 counties in the Keystone State. This is a rain-or-shine event. Fifteen clubs from the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania have organized gardens that will be in bloom from west of Pittsburgh to Clarion in the north, through Lancaster and all the way to east of Valley Forge. Locally, the Martha Washington Garden Club will be hosting tours on June 27. Gardens included in the tour include Washington & Jefferson College arboretum, the Bradford House gardens, the veterans gardens at the train station, the LeMoyne House Gardens, the master gardens at the Trolley Museum and Evelyn’s Flower Farm. Tickets can be purchased for $30 on the day of the tour at LeMoyne House Gardens using a credit card. Visit the GCFP website at pagardenclubs.org for more information.
Dementia support
“Everyone Knows Someone,” a free, one-hour program on helping families living with dementia, will be held at Church of the Covenant, 267 E. Beau St., Washington, at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 30. The program will emphasize the support, resources and connections needed to be an effective caregiver and to keep loved ones at home as long as possible and discuss the next level of care. Hands and Hearts is hosting the program featuring Jean Royse from Presbyterian Senior Care. Refreshments will be provided. No registration is required.
