Seniors to compete in America 250 history trivia contest
Local seniors will put their knowledge of history to the test during the America 250 History Trivia Contest this week.
The competition at the Trinity High School Auditorium in North Franklin Township will feature seven teams representing senior centers from throughout Washington County as they compete in a spirited contest focused on the history and founding of both the United States and Washington County.
The event, which will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, is designed to celebrate America’s semiquincentennial, while also encouraging community engagement, lifelong learning and friendly competition among older adults.
Former county commissioner Bracken Burns will serve as the master of ceremonies, and the contest answers will be judged by the Washington County Commissioners Nick Sherman, Electra Janis and Larry Maggi.
The contest is sponsored by Aging Services of Washington County, a division of the Washington County Department of Human Services, in partnership with the Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging Inc. Admission and parking are free, and refreshments will be provided.
