Washington man charged in rape of young boy
A Washington man was arrested last week and accused of raping a young boy on multiple occassions last year.
John Bryan, 61, was charged Friday by city police with multiple felony counts after officers were called to investigate a child welfare report.
Police said the 5-year-old boy told investigators about the assaults and a medical evaluation showed injuries from being raped, according to court documents. The child also appeared to have bladder issues possibly caused by a sexually transmitted disease.
The alleged assaults happened on multiple occasions between March and December 2025, police said in court documents.
Bryan is charged with felony counts of child rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and aggravated indecent assault without consent, along with one misdemeanor charge of corruption of minors.
He was arraigned Friday night by District Judge Eric Porter and is being held at the Washington County jail on $250,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for July 1 at 3 p.m. before District Judge Kelly Stewart.
