The Peters Township School District Board of Directors unanimously adopted an $89.7 million budget for the 2026-27 school year Monday.

The millage rate for property owners in the school district will go up by .32 mills, from 16.28 to 16.60 mills, meaning that the owner of a home in the school district will pay an additional $32 for every $100,000 of assessed property value.

Officials have said the increase can be pegged to inflation, along with building and grounds projects, including replacing the heating and cooling system at Bower Hill Elementary School in Venetia.

The board also bid farewell to Dr. Jeannine French, who has been the district’s superintendent for the last 13 years. On July 1, she will be replaced by Dr. Jennifer Murphy, who has been the district’s assistant superintendent.

“It’s been a very quick 13 years,” French said. “I’ll be on the sidelines cheering.”
