The Washington County Community Foundation (WCCF) is accepting applications for capacity-building grants ranging from $5,000 to $50,00 to help local nonprofits grow stronger, smarter, and more sustainable.

The WCCF defines “capacity-building” as any activity that increases the nonprofit’s operational, programmatic, financial, or organizational maturity. Backed by 30 years of grant-making experience, the foundation’s initiative is designed to help organizations build solid infrastructure, sharpen strategy, and increase long-term impact across Washington County. In 2025, more than 25 local nonprofits leveraged capacity-building grants to streamline operations, expand programs, and strengthen fundraising efforts.

A minimum of $450,000 will be awarded through two competitive cycles in 2026. Cycle One, which opened March 1, will focus on four key funding areas. These include improving financial processes, developing strategic plans, enhancing data management systems, and strengthening communications tools.

The grants are primarily intended for 501(c)(3) charities, though other nonprofits requesting support for a charitable project, as defined by the IRS, may also be considered. Applications must be submitted via the foundation’s website at www.wccf.net.
