IU1 to host Student Showcase at PennWest California
Intermediate Unit 1 (IU1) will hold its annual Student Showcase from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the PennWest California Convocation Center.
The showcase celebrates the creativity, technical skill and academic excellence of students from 25 school districts in Fayette, Greene and Washington counties. It’s a live gallery of modern education that moves beyond the classroom to highlight the hands-on projects in which these students are taking part.
Specific displays change every year, but past showcases have featured everything from high-tech robotics and drone flight demonstrations to student-produced podcasts and intricate woodworking.
In addition to these displays, attendees can experience Career and Technology Center programs in real time. Students often provide live demonstrations of specialized skills. There also will be live musical performances by student choirs, bands and a steel drum ensemble.
Admission is free.
