The Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation will hold Mornings in Mingo on Wednesday, March 25 at 10 a.m. in the Mingo Creek Park office. Participants will paint welcome mats using stencils. Materials will be provided, and a breakfast of pancakes and sausage will be served as part of the $5 cost. Pre-registration is required and can be made under the services tab of www.washingtoncopa.gov/parks-and-recreation or by calling the parks and recreation office at 724-228-6867.

California United Methodist Church will hold a free dinner for the community on Wednesday, April 1 from 6 to 7 p.m. in the social hall, 227 Third St., California. Entrees are chicken and halupki, with side dishes and desserts provided by attendees. For more information, contact the church office at 724-938-2270.

The California United Methodist Church’s Care and Share Thrift Store has $1 children’s clothing on March 26-27. The store is open from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays.

Long Branch Community Grange, 210 Chestnut St., Coal Center, will begin its season with a performance from acoustic guitarist Dave Hixon on Saturday, March 28. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. Cost is $40. Call 724-938-2529 or 724-344-0945 for tickets by March 21.

Claysville Christian Church will hold a creamed chicken over biscuit dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 28. In addition to creamed chicken, the dinner includes mashed potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, beverage and dessert. Take-out will be available. A love offering will be accepted at the door.

UPMC Washington Hospital Auxiliary is holding a raffle for $500 in meat from 84 Packing Co., and $200 from Walmart. The $5 tickets can be purchased in the gift shop and main lobby at the hospital. Drawing is March 31 at noon.

Penn Highlands Mon Valley will host “Let’s Talk Women’s Health: Pancakes and Purses” on Saturday, April 18, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center. Penn Highlands Mon Valley is located at 1163 Country Club Road in Monongahela. During the breakfast, attendees will enjoy a pancake breakfast while listening to presentations on women’s health topics. Presenters include: Natalie Furgiuele, MD, FACS, director of the Penn Highlands Mon Valley Breast Program; Walter Cox, MD, gynecologist; Shaina Lipchinsky, CRNP, nurse practitioner specializing in gynecological care; Thomas Sisk, MD, family medicine physician. Mon Valley Academy for the Arts (MVAA) invites teens to participate in its ongoing Crafty Conversations program, held on the second Wednesday of each month from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Peter J. Daley Cultural Center, 119 Brownsville Ave., Brownsville. The free sessions offer teens a chance to express themselves artistically.
