Spada receives ATHENA Leadership Award
Leanna Spada, executive director of the Mon Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce, is the recipient of this year’s ATHENA Leadership Award.
The award was presented Friday at the Hilton Garden Inn at Southpointe by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. Spada was one of five finalists for the award, which honors women’s leadership within business and civic life.
“The award promotes leadership by honoring exceptional individuals in the community who contribute in significant ways to the achievements of women and women’s leadership efforts,” according to Jeff Kotula. He added that “we are very fortunate that Washington County’s businesswomen are leading and being acknowledged for their positive impacts in Washington County.”
The other finalists were:
– Lori Mesta, vice president and banking center manager for WesBanco.
– Genevieve Peters, branch manager for Dress for Success Pittsburgh.
– Amy Podgurski-Gough, chief operating officer with UPMC Washington Teen Outreach and the Academy for Adolescent Health.
– Jamie Coleman-Price, director of nursing at Allegheny Health Network-Canonsburg Hospital.
Aliesha Walz of the Washington County Community Foundation was this year’s recipient of the Diana Irey Vaughan ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award. The award honors emerging leaders who demonstrate creativity, excellence or initiative in their business or profession.
The ATHENA Award finalists are chosen for the contributions they make to improve the lives of others, the help they give to other women in achieving their full leadership potential, and if they have achieved a high level of professional excellence.
