The United Way of Washington and Greene Counties has given out its annual United for the Community Awards, which recognize both individuals and organizations that have shown leadership in giving and support for the United Way.

The awards were presented Thursday at the conclusion of the United Way’s annual radiothon. In a partnership with Washington radio station WJPA, listeners heard stories throughout the day about the United Way, volunteerism, philanthropy and the need to invest in the community.

Award recipients included:

– Range Resources, which received the Community Impact Award for its philanthropic efforts.

– GG&C Bus Company in Washington, Caring for the Community Award, for its support of the United Way.

– Kelly Young of Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pennsylvania and Jeff Walentosky of Moody and Associates, Outstanding Community Volunteers of the Year.

– EQT, Outstanding Community Volunteer Organization.

– Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania, Corporate Champion of the Year for exceptional workplace giving leadership.

– The Delta Gamma Sorority of Washington & Jefferson College, Collegiate Champion of the Year.

– The Chapman Corp. of Washington, Corporate Leader in Philanthropy.

– Natalie Chaido of the Washington Health System, Individual Leader in Philanthropy.

– Kelley Swift, executive director of CASA for Kids, Nonprofit Employee of the Year.

Radiothon raised a little over $10,000, according to Jessica Tennant, the director of marketing and fundraising for the United Way of Washington and Greene Counties. Those contributions will be used to support programs and services in the two counties.

“The overwhelming response to the radiothon shows how much people care about their neighbors and the future of our region,” Tennant said. “From listeners making donations to volunteers sharing their time and stories, the day is filled with generosity, collaboration and hope. We are excited to continue building momentum and expanding our impact.”

The United Way organizations in Washington and Greene Counties merged earlier this year. More information about the United Way is available at unitedwaywgc.org.
