Smith Township reports rash of weekend thefts, vehicle break-ins

By Mike Jones 1 min read

Smith Township police are warning residents in northern Washington County to be vigilant after the department received numerous calls over the weekend for a rash of suspicious activity.

Police said they were called Sunday morning to investigate several incidents in the Burgettstown and Langeloth areas, including vehicle break-ins, thefts and a burglary.

The department posted on its Facebook page asking residents and business owners to check their vehicles, stores, homes and garages to see if anything is missing, stolen or damaged, and to report any issues by calling 911.

Investigators also asked anyone with surveillance cameras on their properties to check for any suspicious activity from Saturday night into Sunday morning.

People can call the police department’s non-emergency office phone number at 724-947-5069, or email any camera footage of suspicious people or vehicles going through the area to Smith Township police Officer Tyler Evans tevans@smithtownship.org.
