Election Day meals

The Center Township VFD Auxiliary will have food for sale on Election Day from 8 a.m to 7 p.m. Breakfast will include sausage and biscuits. Lunch will be sloppy joe, hot dogs, ham, cabbage and sausage. Dinner will be lasagna, salad, garlic bread and desserts.

Invasive plant walk

Join Dr. Mark Mamros and Dean Rossini of the PA Forest Stewards Program to discover the many unwanted invasive plants growing in Washington County. The invasive plant walk will be May 19 at 7 p.m. The group will meet at Shelter 2 in Mingo Creek County Park.

A limited number of handouts will be available.

Dress for light hiking and the weather. Preregistration is preferred but not required. Registrations can be made online by visiting the Washington County Parks website or by calling the Washington County Parks and Recreation Office at 724-228-6867. There is no fee for this program.

Dancing at the fire hall

Dancing at the fire hall will be held at the Center Township Volunteer Fire Department in Rogersville on May 23 from 7 to 10 p.m. Dances will include waltzes, polkas, line dancing, square dances and more. Dave Dahl will also take requests. Those who haven’t participated in a square dance will be walked through the steps. Light refreshments will be available for purchase. The event benefits the Center Township VFD Auxiliary. The cost for a couple is $15; for an individual, $8; for ages 12-18, $6; and for those under 12 are free.

Bike safety event

The Washington Lions Club will hold its third annual bike safety event on May 30 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Lions Pavilion at Washington Park. The free event will include a bike raffle, trail guides, kids’ crafts, snacks, drinks, safety education and more.
