Robin Moore’s fashion photography has appeared in some pretty impressive places – we’re talking magazines like Vogue, Marie Claire and GQ.

But the Uniontown native’s work will perhaps gain its widest audience not through the newsstand, but on the movie screen.

In the recently released “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” a photo that Moore snapped can be seen on the cover of a magazine as the movie unfolds.

“We were so appreciative,” said Moore, who is 65 and an alumni of Uniontown High School. “It’s an honor, it really is, to come out of a small town in Fayette County and be in a movie.”

The photo appears on a copy of an issue of Milan Weekly and depicts Fayette County model Lorien Seaton in the seat of a vintage automobile. A little more than a year ago, Moore was contacted about her work potentially being used in a movie, and she signed a release granting permission for it to appear on screen. Moore didn’t know what the movie was, and quickly forgot about it as life and its demands went on.

She recently found out, though, that the movie was “The Devil Wears Prada 2.” It’s a follow-up to the 2006 comedy-drama about the imperious, brutally demanding editor of a fashion magazine played by Meryl Streep, and her long-suffering assistant played by Anne Hathaway. According to the “Devil Wears Prada” movies, the worlds of fashion and magazine publishing are endeavors best avoided by the faint-hearted, and Moore concedes it’s a hard business.

“It’s tough,” she said. “It’s a tough industry. You have to be OK with yourself and take a lot of no’s before you get to a yes.”

The proprietor of the Ar’moore Model and Talent Group in Uniontown, Moore has been fascinated by photography since she was young. She remembers her mother bringing a camera to events around town, and her family trying out different types of cameras. After working for a while as an animal chiropractor, Moore shifted into being a professional photographer.

And though “The Devil Wears Prada 2” has provided Moore with her most visible platform yet, she has not yet seen it. She has, however, seen the first movie. Moore pointed out that getting her work into hundreds of multiplexes isn’t about her work alone.

“Nothing is ever one person,” she said. “You have to have an entire team of people to make the dream work.”
