Youth outdoor events

Paris Sportsman’s Club is hosting two annual youth events designed to introduce young people to the outdoors, located at the lake at 154 Devils Den Road in Paris. The club’s annual kids fishing derby will take place on May 30, with registration beginning at 8 a.m. and fishing activities starting at 9 a.m. The event is free for all youth ages 18 and under and will feature a fishing contest with bait provided. All registered youth will receive a free lunch and be entered for door prizes. A 50/50 raffle will also be held during the event.

All kids are also invited to attend the club’s annual youth field day on July 11. The event is free for all youth up to 18 years old, with registration beginning at 8 a.m. and fishing activities starting at 9 a.m. Youth field day will include a variety of supervised hands-on outdoor activities and shooting sports stations, including archery, air rifle, black powder, trap shooting, shooting sports and additional hands-on outdoor activity stations. All registered youth participants will receive a free lunch and be entered for door prize giveaways.

Jam night

Mingo Creek County Park will host an evening of music on June 3 in Shelter 10. Jam night will begin at 6:30 p.m. Musicians who wish to share their talents are welcome to join the jam. Don’t play an instrument? No worries, listeners are always welcome. Musical flavor leans towards bluegrass, country and folk. Seating is available at the picnic tables, and those attending are also welcome to bring a lawn chair or blanket. Light refreshments will be served. Preregistration is preferred but not required. Registrations can be made online by visiting washingtoncountypa.tylerparksrec.com/8799prod/ParksRec/portal/Home or by calling the Washington County Parks and Recreation Office at 724-228-6867. There is no fee for this program.

Yard sale

Long Branch Community Grange, 210 Chestnut St., Coal Center, will host a community yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 19 and 20. Those who bring their own table and set up outside will be charged no fee. If the grange provides a table indoors, vendors will be asked to pay $10. A variety of home-cooked food will be sold throughout the event. For more information, call 724-938-2529.
