Boy taken to hospital after near-drowning incident in Nottingham Township

A 5-year-old boy was taken by a medical helicopter to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh after nearly drowning in a backyard swimming pool in Nottingham Township Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred in the 200 block of Pine Nut Drive, according to a Washington County 911 dispatcher.

The boy was pulled from the water about 12:40 p.m. by someone who was attending a party at the pool, according to Pennsylvania State Police spokesman Rocco Gagliardi. EMS personnel administered CPR to the boy before he was flown to the hospital.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating.
