Greene task force seizes cash, suspected drugs in searches
Cash and suspected illegal drugs were seized at two locations in Greene County Friday morning after Greene County Drug Task Force detectives simultaneously executed search warrants at both spots, Greene County District Attorney Brianna Vanata announced Friday.
The searches, conducted in Jefferson and Nemacolin, arose fro mseparate investigations, the district attorney’s office said.
Detectives had obtained a search warrant for 129 Hickman St., Jefferson, after an undercover operation in May in which officers purchased “tranq” — a dangerous veterinary tranquilizer (xylazine) frequently mixed with illicit opioids.
During a search of the building, detectives found glassine bags suspected to contain tranq, as well as currency, the release said.
Police said Friday morning that they expected to arrest two people on drug-related charges after they conclude the investigation and receive laboratory results.
Another man was taken into custody after officers served a second search warrant at his home in Nemacolin, where an undercover detective had been buying illegal drugs during a three-week investigation, the task force release said.
During the search, detectives discovered currency, suspected powder cocaine, crack cocaine, and other paraphernalia related to drug trafficking, according to the release.
The task force expects to file charges after lab results return.
He was lodged in the Greene County jail Friday on an outstanding warrant for criminal charges in Belmont County, Ohio.
No charges had been filed in either case as of Friday afternoon.
Assisting the task force were the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, state police Troop B Vice Unit, Waynesburg Borough Police, Greene County Probation Office, Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, Cumberland Township Police, Pennsylvania Game Commission and Pennsylvania State Constables.
