Boy Scouts from Canonsburg Troop 1305 assisted Houston Borough meet its state stormwater obligations with a colorful effort earlier this month.

Aspiring Eagle Scout Ryan Hester spearheaded the effort to spray paint stencils of fish on drains across the borough in order to raise awareness that illegal dumping into stormwater systems can harm wildlife.

According to borough council member Paul Hatalsky, “(Hester) did the planning, created the stencil, had great input on ‘what to do and how to do it’ and showed great leadership skills during the completion of the project.”
