League of Women Voters, NAACP hosting candidates night
The League of Women Voters of Washington County and the NAACP Washington Branch are holding a “Meet the Candidates Night” at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 14, at Washington High School, Allison Avenue. Hosted by the school’s Student Life Group, this event aims to help prepare Washington County voters for the Nov. 3 election.
All candidates seeking offices representing Washington County have been invited, including those running for: U.S. House of Representatives District 14; state Senate District 46, and state House
Districts 15, 39, 40, 46, 48, and 50.
The League of Women Voters and NAACP are nonpartisan organizations that seek to educate voters and promote citizen participation in government. The League and the NAACP do not support any political party or candidate and have a long, successful history of coordinating voter education programs throughout the country.
This event offers area residents an opportunity to meet the candidates and hear their views on key regional issues. Washington High School students will serve as greeters. An independent facilitator will moderate the event, and each candidate will be provided with equal time to express their views.
