Conservation District seeking director
The Washington County Conservation District is seeking a director or associate director to help shape how the county manages agricultural practices and vital natural resources like water quality, forestry, and soil erosion.
As a governmental subdivision, the Conservation District is governed by a seven-member board, which leads a team of nine staff members. This team works closely with landowners and residents to implement conservation practices and provide education on environmental issues and trends.
Board members meet monthly to oversee conservation programs and collaborate with local governments, state, and federal agencies. While the position is unpaid, expenses for meetings and activities may be covered.
Interested candidates should contact the Conservation District at 724-705-7098, the county commissioners’ office at 724-228-6724, or the state Conservation Commission at 717-787-8821 for nominating organizations and application information. All candidates must be nominated. Nominations must be received no later than Nov. 3.
