The Freedom 250 Mobile Museum, which features a history of the United States’ founding, will be stopping at Heritage Public Library in McDonald starting Wednesday.

The traveling exhibit has been assembled under the aegis of America250, the organization that led this year’s celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Dubbed “Freedom Trucks,” they have been traveling across the country, and will continue to do so through December.

“This is an extraordinary opportunity for our community, and we are thrilled to bring an experience like this to McDonald,” according to Nikki Sarchet, the director of Heritage Public Library.

Admission is free, and the stop at Heritage Library will be the final one in Pennsylvania before it heads to the southern part of the United States. It will be at the library through Friday.

“We hope families, students and people of all ages will take advantage of this free opportunity to celebrate our nation’s history,” Sarchet added. “We are especially excited to be the final stop in Pennsylvania and want to encourage everyone to come out and be part of this special occasion.”

Among the exhibit’s components are an animatronic George Washington, a “Wall of American Heroes” featuring such figures as Norman Rockwell, Steve Jobs and Frank Sinatra and a video message from President Trump. The federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) gave a $14 million grant to launch the mobile museums.

In the announcement about the mobile museums in September 2025, Keith Sonderling, then the acting director of the IMLS and now the U.S. secretary of labor, said the trucks “aim to reignite patriotism, celebrate our shared heritage, enhance local community celebrations and ensure every American has the chance to learn about the ideals that made our country the greatest in the world.”

Coffee trucks will be available in the mornings and food trucks in the afternoon while the mobile museum is at the library. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. For more information, go online to HeritageLibraryPA.org or call 724-926-8400.
