The Fayette County coroner’s office has identified the woman who died in a fatal rockslide Saturday along the Great Allegheny Passage.

Gail Luck, 79, of Germantown, Wis., had been bicycling with her husband near mile marker 87.6 between Ohiopyle and Connellsville Saturday afternoon. Initial reports indicated the victim was from Florida. Fayette County Coroner Dr. Bob Baker said the couple spent their winters in Florida.

A Morrell Volunteer Fire Company member said the two were trapped by a 1,000-pound boulder, which first responders were able to dislodge after 10 minutes.

Luck’s husband was transported to a Pittsburgh hospital with severe injuries. He is expected to make a full recovery, Baker said in the release.
