Apple announces partnership with Houston-based Perryman Company
Manufacturer will supply titanium products for iPhones
The Houston-based Perryman Company, a manufacturer of specialty titanium products, will be supplying titanium to Apple for its iPhoneDuo and iPhone18Pro, it was announced Tuesday.
Apple said it would be committing up to $100 million to Perryman, a family-owned business that has been in Houston since 1988, and that the company will melt, forge and roll titanium for its iPhoneDuo, and use a minimum of 80% recycled material.
At the same time, Apple announced it was expanding a partnership with Qnity Electronics, a semiconductor company in Wilmington, Del., for camera technology in the iPhone18Pro.
In a news release, Sabih Khan, Apple’s chief operating officer, said, “We’re thrilled to expand our work with companies producing advanced materials and components for our newest iPhone lineup right here in America. “American ingenuity is vital to all our products, from the titanium crafted for the iPhone Duo to breakthrough camera innovations in the iPhone18Pro. We’re proud to work with Perryman and Qnity Electronics to continue expanding our American Manufacturing Program and support U.S. jobs.”
Apple says that, through its American Manufacturing Program, it works with suppliers in every state in the country and supports 450,000 jobs. The company also says that close to 100 components in the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro are produced by American companies.
The iPhone Duo is set to be released on Friday, and it’s being billed as the first foldable iPhone. The starting price for the phone is about $2,000. The iPhone18Pro was released in September.
CNBC reported Tuesday that delivery estimates for the iPhone Duo are as long as 14 weeks, and supply constraints could lower the number of phones Apple ships this year.
The Perryman Company is one of the largest melters of titanium products in the world, and has supplied clients in the aerospace, military and medical industries. The company has four campuses in Washington County, along with offices in London, Los Angeles, Zurich, Tokyo and X’ian.
