Former McKeesport man faces trial in fatal Washington shooting
A former McKeesport resident will be tried for a fatal shooting that happened in Washington a little more than a year ago.
Karl Kevin Sullivan II, 37, is facing a charge of criminal homicide in the shooting death of 20-year-old Jullian Lassic in the early hours of Oct. 11, 2025, in an alley in the 100 block of North Main Street. Sullivan also faces other charges, including aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and receiving stolen property.
At a preliminary hearing Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Kelly Stewart, Washington County Senior Deputy District Attorney John Friedmann presented evidence placing Sullivan at the scene of the shooting. While there are no video recordings of the shootout or eyewitnesses, Friedmann said a “reasonable inference” could be made that Sullivan shot Lassic. Sullivan’s attorney, Fred Rabner, said there was not sufficient evidence to support a homicide charge.
Stewart said that these arguments could ultimately be made in a trial.
Court documents say Lassic and Sullivan were both at the Sin City Disciples Clubhouse at 147 N. Main St., Washington, on Oct. 11, 2025, before the shooting. They both left the club separately shortly before 3 a.m., and Sullivan is alleged to have followed Lassic into a nearby alley where the shooting occurred.
Lassic was shot twice and died at the scene, while Sullivan was found bleeding from gunshot wounds and slumped over a nearby curb. He was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital and would not talk to Washington police detectives. The detectives were later able to get a DNA sample from Sullivan after he relocated to Virginia and was facing an unrelated assault charge there. According to charging documents, Sullivan’s DNA matched him to evidence at the scene of the shooting.
Sullivan was arrested in Virginia last month following a standoff with authorities and was extradited to Washington County.
