Former IT contractor for Peters district sentenced
Will serve jail time for possessing child sexual abuse material
A former information technology contractor with the Peters Township School District has been sentenced to four to eight years in prison for possessing child sexual abuse material.
Jason Wayne Ayres, 48, of Chartiers Township, was sentenced Monday by Washington County Judge Traci McDonald followed by Ayres pleading guilty to two felony counts of sexual abuse of children.
Ayres was arrested in July 2025 after investigators found that material depicting the sexual abuse of children had been downloaded at Ayres’ home in the 800 block of McClane Farm Road. Ayres admitted to agents that he had downloaded and viewed the material.
The conduct for which Ayres was charged did not involve students in the Peters school district. Ayres had worked at Peters Township High School, and after he was arrested his contract with the district was terminated and his access to district facilities and its systems was cut off.
Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday said in a news release that Ayres “worked among students and in a school setting while he possessed at his home files depicting horrific acts involving young children. Anyone who possesses or shares this content is abusing and exploiting kids and my office will not tolerate such behavior.”
As part of the sentence, Ayres must register as a sex offender for 15 years following his release from prison.
