Box culvert replacement project in Washington nearing completion

There will be daytime single-lane restrictions on South Main Street at South Street in Washington every day this week while crews perform asphalt patching work to complete utility restoration in the area as part of the box culvert replacement project, according to the state Department of Transportation. Crews closed Park Avenue for three weeks in June as they began replacing the 100-year-old box culvert that carries Catfish Creek under the intersection, and South Main Street in that area has been closed since mid-July as work moved under that part of the roadway. PennDOT officials said the $2.25 million project is still on track to be completed by the end of the month to allow South Main Street to reopen to traffic. [Mike Jones]
