Waynesburg man charged with aggravated assault
Police are seeking a Waynesburg man accused of injuring several people Sunday night after backing his car into a garage while allegedly drunk.
Witnesses told Waynesburg police that James Roach, 35, had been asked to leave a gathering at 310 E. Lincoln St. before backing his Jeep Grand Cherokee into the garage shortly after 7 p.m.
Stacey Lewis, who was standing near the garage entrance, was hit with the back of the vehicle near the fuel tank, the complaint said.
Roach then left the car, got back in, then backed up the car while Lewis was underneath, court documents stated. He then put the car in drive and headed out.
Lewis was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Terry Redman, Mark Hayes Jr. and Richard Ewart, who were also near the garage entrance, were either hit directly by the car or an object pushed into them, the complaint said. They were cleared by emergency responders.
Charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment were filed against Roach Monday in Judge David Balint’s court.
A warrant was issued for Roach’s arrest.
