1 min read

Waynesburg police charged a woman Tuesday with attempted homicide after she allegedly stabbed another woman.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the home of Keira Lynn Knox, 22, in the 130 block of West Elm Street, Waynesburg, shortly before midnight Monday.

Knox is accused of stabbing Lona Thomas in the shoulder and in her left cheek. A witness said he heard Knox threaten to kill Thomas.

According to the complaint, Knox claimed to police she was acting in self-defense, as Thomas was attempting to stab her with a kitchen knife. However, police did not find a knife matching that description at the scene.

Knox also faces misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and reckless endangerment.

She was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Lee Watson, but bond information was not immediately available. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. April 11.
