Waynesburg University plans counseling symposium

Waynesburg University’s regional counseling symposium, “Elevating Voices: Adverse Childhood Experiences,” is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 15 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Southpointe, 1000 Corporate Drive, Canonsburg.

Admission to the event is free. Registration will begin at 8 a.m.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Dana Milakovic, mental wellness and trauma specialist with the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Office for Safe Schools. She also participates on the leadership team for HEAL PA, a multisectoral coalition that aims to transform Pennsylvania into a trauma-informed and healing-centered state.

Milakovic will present her session, “Building Bridges Not Walls: How Relationships Can Help Us Heal and Thrive.”

The symposium also will include various presenters, lunch and roundtable and poster sessions.
