State police arrested a Canton Township man last week after he was accused of sexually abusing a child.

Edward Gibbon Snider, 35, faces charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child and corruption of minors.

According to the criminal complaint, police began investigating claims against Snider in July. Charging documents accuse him of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old on multiple occasions between 2018 and 2019.

The alleged incidents occurred at Snider’s Bel Air Drive apartment.

Snider was arraigned last week before District Judge John Bruner, who sent him to the Washington County jail on $250,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Nov. 25.
