UPMC Washington brings gynecologic oncology care to region
UPMC Magee-Women’s Hospital now offers gynecologic oncology services at UPMC Washington.
The collaboration brings UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital’s nationally recognized women’s care to women in Washington County and the surrounding region.
Brook Ward, president of UPMC Washington and UPMC Greene, called offering the specialized services “a significant milestone for the hospital.” Ward also noted that the local program will allow women to receive care closer to home.
The new program is led by Dr. Jamie Lesnock, a graduate of Trinity High School.
“I feel incredibly privileged to return to my hometown and work alongside the dedicated staff at UPMC Washington,” said Lesnock, who completed her residency at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and her medical degree at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. “While gynecologic oncology may seem highly specialized, we provide a broad range of advanced gynecologic care. Being able to deliver these services locally truly enhances women’s health and access in our community.”
Gynecologic oncology focuses on diagnosing and treating cancers of the female reproductive system, including ovarian, cervical, uterine, vaginal and vulvar cancers. Services at UPMC Washington will include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, genetic counseling and follow-up care.
The expanded services are in response to a health needs assessment conducted by UPMC, which identified the need for improved access to chronic disease prevention and early detection.
Dr. Mackenzy Radolec, a Peters Township High School graduate, will join Lesnock and the gynecologic oncology team in September.
