Peters Township police charge two in assault
Peters Township police charged two people Monday for allegedly assaulting each other.
Jasmine Nicole Henry, 32, of Washington, and Geoffry William Staley, 35, of Peters Township, each face a felony charge of aggravated assault. Staley faces an additional felony of strangulation.
According to the criminal complaint, shortly before 8 a.m. Monday police were called to Staley’s home in the 200 block of Center Church Road.
Court records state that Henry and Staley had gotten into a physical altercation after smoking crack cocaine. Henry is accused of using an “unknown but sharp” weapon to slash Staley’s face.
Staley told police he “had to strangle” Henry. Police found Henry on the kitchen floor. She allegedly said that Staley tried to murder her and had strangled her.
According to the complaint, Staley was treated at the scene by Peters Township VFW Ambulance but refused to be transported to a hospital. Henry was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment.
Staley was arraigned Monday morning by District Judge Phillippe Melograne, who sent him to the Washington County jail on $100,000 bond. Henry has not been arraigned.
