The state attorney general’s office accused a Washington man Wednesday of downloading material depicting the sexual abuse of children.

Nathan Lee Frynkewicz, 39, faces 50 felony charges of distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material, and criminal use of a communication facility.

According to the criminal complaint, investigators with the attorney general’s office began the investigation in November.

Charging documents allege that Frynkewicz was downloading multiple files of the illicit material from a file sharing website, and making them available for other users to download.

On Tuesday state troopers served a search warrant at Frynkewicz’s apartment in the 200 block of Locust Avenue and found a device containing child sexual abuse material, the complaint states.

During an interview with investigators, Frynkewicz allegedly admitted to downloading and viewing the material, according to charging documents.

Frynkewicz was arraigned Wednesday morning before District Judge Phillippe Melograne, who sent him to the Washington County jail without bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. July 28.
