Route 40 closed after fatal crash
A stretch of Route 40 is currently closed as a result of a two-vehicle crash that killed one person Tuesday morning.
According to a Washington County 911 supervisor, the crash occurred at about 5:10 a.m. near Route 40’s intersection with Valleyview Road.
One person was reported dead at the scene, and another was taken by helicopter to an unspecified hospital.
As of 8:30 a.m., Route 40 remained closed between Leatherman Bridge Road and Route 917.
