McGuffey High School to graduate 140
McGuffey High School will hold its commencement at 7 p.m. Friday at McGuffey High School, with 140 students graduating.
Honor speakers are Elihu Dale, Hailee Kee and Nathan Kler.
Dale is the son of Kable and Emily Dale of Claysville.
He will attend the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he plans to major in engineering.
Dale served as senior class president and National Honor Society president, and was an Eagle Scout with Troop 1031. He was a three-time PIAA qualifier for the cross-country team and a four-time WPIAL medalist for the track team. He is a member of the Mon Valley Equestrian Team and served on the National Pike Trail Committee.
He received several awards, including the Marine Corps League Good Citizen Award, the DAR Good Citizen Award, and the Challenge Program Award for Academic Excellence.
Kay is the daughter of Stephanie Kay of Washington and Aarn Kay of Claysville.
She plans to attend Seton Hill University, where she will major in forensic science.
Kay was a member of the McGuffey Math Team and the National Honor Society. She was a member of the tennis team, was a three-time WPIAL medalist in track and two-time WPIAL finalist in cross country, and was a member of the varsity girls basketball team.
She was the recipient of the Elizabeth Seton Academic Scholarship.
Kler is the son of Kevin and Julie Kler of Washington.
He plans to attend Thiel College and major in computer science.
Kler was a member of the National Honor Society and the McGuffey Math Team.
He was captain of the varsity soccer team and a member of the varsity football team.
