Multi-church Lenten series to start
Community Lenten gatherings will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at Fourth Presbyterian Church, 1000 Jefferson Ave., Washington, as part of the annual “Route 844 Corridor” churches’ Lenten services.
Each year six or seven churches in the western end of the county gather and offer a worship and fellowship get-together for the community. This year the series will use the book, “Meeting Jesus on the Road,” by Cynthia M. Campbell and Christine Coy Fohr. The churches exchange pastors for the weekly services, with each preaching on one of the book’s Lenten lessons. After worship, each church offers a light dinner/snack for continued fellowship.
This year’s schedule follows with pastors switching throughout the churches:
Feb. 22 at Fourth Presbyterian with the Rev. Page Creach;
March 1, West Alexander Presbyterian, the Rev. Jerome Creach;
March 8, Taylorstown Presbyterian, the Rev. Terry Lucarelli;
March 15, Grove United Presbyterian, the Rev. Dave Mason;
March 22, Upper Buffalo Presbyterian, Inquirer Kabel Dale;
March 29, Claysville United Presbyterian, the Rev. Cindy Smith.
All offerings collected from the services will be donated to Washington Christian Outreach to assist in their mission and outreach throughout the area.
