East Washington man charged with endangerment
East Washington police arrested a man Wednesday morning after he was accused of firing a gun inside his apartment.
Jarvis Prather, 33, of East Washington, faces misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment and simple assault.
According to the criminal complaint, at about 12:20 a.m. police were called to Prather’s apartment at 418 E. Beau St. for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, a woman and a child exited the the home.
The City of Washington Police Department was called to assist, and the agency posted to its Facebook page that there was a short standoff before Prather was taken into custody.
Charging documents state that police recovered a 9mm handgun and a .223-caliber rifle from the apartment. Police said Prather fired “several” rounds inside that went through the walls of the building.
Prather was arraigned Wednesday morning before District Judge Mark Wilson, who sent him to the Washington County jail on $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 3 p.m. Feb. 3.
