Washington sheriff named to Pa. Commission on Crime and Delinquency
Washington County Sheriff Tony Andronas was recently appointed by Gov. Josh Shapiro to the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
The commission’s mission is to enhance the quality and coordination of criminal and juvenile justice systems, support victims of crime, and increase the safety of Pennsylvania communities.
Andronas took the oath of office in May and will serve a four-year term, which expires in June 2030.
“After more than 30 years in law enforcement, I am truly honored to be appointed to the commission by the governor,” said Andronas, who called the appointment a significant career milestone. “I look forward to working alongside professionals from all areas of the criminal justice system from across our great Commonwealth.”
The commission meets quarterly, and Andronas will work with other committees and training boards during his term.
“PCCD is specifically tasked with providing services to the victims of crime. They also assist in the field of prevention and treatment for those suffering from substance use disorders, and work with adult probation offices and mental health agencies, to name a few,” he said.
The commission also sponsors grant opportunities to assist with funding-related projects.
