Allegheny Health Network’s Canonsburg Hospital has earned earned the highest possible “A” grades in The Leapfrog Group’s Spring 2026 Hospital Safety Grades, a national recognition of excellence in patient safety and quality care.

In Leapfrog’s most recent report, five AHN hospitals – Canonsburg, Wexford, Allegheny Valley, Jefferson and West Penn hospitals – all received “A” grades, placing them among the top-performing hospitals in the country when it comes to protecting patients from harm.

“These ‘A’ grades reflect our unwavering commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care in every community we serve,” said Mark Sevco, president of AHN. “Across our network, our teams are deeply focused on continuous improvement, transparency and accountability. This recognition affirms the culture of safety we’ve built, where every patient can feel confident in the care they receive.”

The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization committed to improving patient awareness of health care quality and safety. Updated and published each spring and fall, the Safety Grade report assigns hospitals across the country an A, B, C, D, or F grade based on their performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections, and other harm to patients under their care. Grades are assigned to nearly 3,000 general acute-care hospitals.

AHN Canonsburg Hospital, in North Strabane Township, is a 104-bed full-service facility that has served area residents for 120 years. The hospital offers a comprehensive range of services including cardiovascular care, cardiac rehabilitation, orthopedic surgery, general surgery, critical care, inpatient rehabilitation, and emergency care.

“These results demonstrate the strength of our systemwide approach to quality and safety,” said Dr. Ezz-Eldin Moukamal, chief quality officer for AHN. “We are continually refining our processes, investing in our people and leveraging data to drive better outcomes. Ultimately, it’s about ensuring that every patient, at every AHN hospital, receives the safest care possible.”
