Washington County is among the areas in the region under close watch for a flood threat Wednesday afternoon and evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, heavy morning rain dropped almost an inch in Washington County, and more showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening.

Those showers and storms from the west could create isolated flooding issues in the next 12 hours, according to the weather station.

Additionally, multiple rounds of severe weather are possible across Southwestern Pennsylvania Wednesday afternoon, as a cold front crosses Wednesday evening. Some storms may be strong to severe, particularly in the afternoon, with damaging winds and tornadoes possible.
