About a dozen people gathered on the sidewalk outside the George Washington Hotel on South Main Street in downtown Washington Thursday afternoon to voice their opposition to data centers as a private event was being held inside the hotel. The "Data Center Happy Hour" event was hosted by the Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Institute, and was by invitation only. A poster for the event featured logos for Prime Data Centers, based in Texas, and Next Generation Land Company, based in Florida. Both companies were represented on a panel earlier in the day at the Washington County Real Estate Expo. Pictured is Christina Blasinsky, community organizer for the Center for Coalfield Justice, who led protestors in chants as people walked toward the hotel for the event. Event organizers declined to comment. [Jon Andreassi]
