One person is in jail after a reported robbery at a North Strabane Township convenience store Friday morning.
North Strabane police Capt. Matt Mancini identified the suspect as 33-year-old Randall Bell.
According to Mancini, police were called to the Marathon at 461 Racetrack Road just before 4 a.m. Friday.
“He brandished pepper spray, demanded money from the clerk, but the clerk refused. He had his hand in his pocket like he may have had some other weapon,” Mancini said.
Bell is accused of fleeing in a vehicle that had been stolen out of the city of Washington. Police tracked the vehicle to the BP gas station at 1360 W. Chestnut St. in North Franklin Township.
Mancini said Washington police arrested Bell.
According to Mancini, Bell is in the Washington County jail for violating probation. Online court records indicate that in December Bell pleaded guilty to retail theft in the Washington County Court of Common Pleas and was sentenced to two years of probation.
“Our suspect was not formally charged, but charges are coming,” Mancini said.
North Strabane police continue to investigate the incident.
