Growing Up Greene fundraiser gets boost
Greene County Commissioners Betsy McClure, Jared Edgreen and Blair Zimmerman talk with Growing Up Greene Executive Director Aaron Houser, second from left, who attended Thursday's county board meeting along with Growing Up Greene's service dog, Coalbie. Last week, Houser and Coalbie completed a 67-mile walk along the historic Warrior Trail to raise awareness of Greene County's child welfare system and to raise funds for upgrades to a building donated by the Observer-Reporter, where Growing Up Greene hopes to create a hub with multiple services under one roof to make the foster care process easier for all involved, Hauser said. The board approved $1,000 in funding toward the project Thursday. A GoFundMe page for the project had raised more than $200,000 as of Thursday afternoon. To donate, go to bit.ly/4yC7Lzo.
