Blood donors are needed every day to support patients undergoing a wide range of medical treatments.

During Blood Cancer Awareness Month in September, nonprofit blood provider Vitalant is highlighting the need for blood donors to meet all patients’ needs, including those with blood cancers.

In April 2026, Jenn Snyder received the diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). After undergoing rounds of chemotherapy, she is scheduled for a bone marrow transplant this month and will need blood and platelets during treatment.

“So far she has received seven units of blood and six transfusions of platelets,” said Owen, Jenn’s 16-year-old son. “We are thankful for the life-saving supply she has benefited from and want to give back to the community. It is an uphill battle and she will need more life-saving transfusions. If you can, please consider a donation. Please take the time to donate because my mom is everything to me. She is my rock and always there for everyone.”

Review eligibility requirements and make an appointment to give by visiting vitalant.org, download and use the Vitalant app or call 877-25-VITAL (877-258-4825).

Donors who are opted in to Vitalant Donor Rewards can receive special thank-you gifts. Those who give between Sept. 1 and 10 using promo code LABORDAY-2026-V when scheduling will receive a $20 gift card. Donors throughout September can receive a glow-in-the-dark T-shirt in time for Halloween.
