Canonsburg council looks to address leaking in borough building alcove

An issue with flooding in the alcove at the Canonsburg Borough Building will be addressed. The uncovered parking area has experienced leaking, causing flooding in the police department storage and evidence rooms, ruining some items in those rooms. Council voted unanimously Monday to award the project to AMS Construction and Remodeling of Waynesburg for $86,300. “The alcove is a section in the center of our building that’s uncovered,” explained Rich Russo, council president. “It’s been giving us flooding issues into the police department. Weather forces cancellation of Charleroi food pantry distribution

The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank’s outdoor Charleroi distribution scheduled for Thursday has been canceled due to winter weather conditions. Christa Johnson, communications specialist, said the food bank’s policy is to cancel an outdoor event when the temperature goes below 10 degrees, as the bitter cold could pose a health risk for staff, volunteers and those coming for the food. The next outdoor distribution in Charleroi at the Chamber of Commerce parking lot will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Feb. 20.
